Hello my name is Star Gem but my foster mom calls me puppy.  I am a Mastiff/Great Pyrenees mix and was born June 2023.  I am a “Mastinees” so I will be a big girl. I am mostly white with a little fawn color on my head. My foster mom says I’m beautiful. I came to the rescue needing socialization, and I am becoming a very confident puppy and have come very far. I have a very sweet and gentle disposition. I am smart, I learned to sit by just watching the other dogs. I don’t bark very much; I leave that to the other dogs. My favorite thing to eat is my puppy food, treats, and whatever surprises my foster mom gives me. I love food and eat peacefully with other dogs. My favorite thing to play with is my furry foster siblings and squeaky toys. I love to play and to get kisses and belly rubs from my foster mom.  My sweetest quirk is that my long tail is always wagging. You can also hear me coming with my big paws…like a small freight train!   I’m still a puppy and learning lots of new things and love everything and everyone.  I sleep in the bedroom with the other dogs on my bed but also don’t mind spending time in my crate. I haven’t been on too many car rides yet or walks as I still need to finish my puppy shots.   I haven’t met any cats yet so don’t know how I feel about them, but I am gentle, and just follow along with the other dogs.  My perfect home would be a home with a yard and other playful dogs. Star Gem will need obedience training as she gets older and mature. There is a lot for a puppy to learn and like all small puppies, she will need someone who can be home with her a lot and provide her with love, patience and boundaries to help her become a loyal companion. She loves the companionship of other animals and requires another dog in the home to act as her mentor as she continues to understand the rules of her new world. Now is the best time to jump in and continue mentoring her.

Our requirements for puppy adoptions are simple and necessary.

  1. Our puppies are not livestock guardians, they are family pets that live inside of the family home.
  2. Puppies must be placed in homes with a youthful, adult resident dog of similar size. This gives the puppy a mentor and a solid foundation for becoming part of the family.
  3. Puppies are only adopted to homes with someone at home at least part of the day. If no one is home for 6-8 hours at a time, please do not apply.
  4. Preference is always given to those with Great Pyrenees experience.
  5. Applicants must have secure, visible fencing and a socialization plan in place.
  6. The fastest way to be considered for a puppy is to fill out an application. Adoption is not first come, first served. GPRS and its fosters work diligently to find the right fit for each and every unique dog and puppy.
  7. Applicant’s personal pets must be current on vaccines & heartworm/flea prevention and be altered.

Adoption fee: $450 (Adoption fee includes spay or neuter, distemper/parvo vaccines, flea preventative, deworming, and health certificate for travel). Adopters pay the cost of transport services outside of Texas area. Transport costs depend on location and company used. Northeast transport fee is $200. The Northwest and Midwest transport fees range from $225-$350. The Southeast transport fees range from $250-$350.

ADOPTION, FOSTERING, AND DONATIONS are just some of the ways you can help a rescued dog. We have worked hard to cultivate a large network of volunteers to save this majestic breed. While monetary donations are always much appreciated, you can also help by donating your time as a GPRS foster or volunteer.
