Hi! I’m Maddie. Professional toy tester, part-time yard explorer, and full-time adorable puppy. My favorite hobby is playing. If there is a toy, a stuffed animal, a rawhide roll, another dog, or honestly even a leaf that looks suspicious....I would like to play with it. Preferably immediately. I live with another female foster dog right now, and guess what? We’re besties. I’m actually the first foster she's liked this much, which feels like a pretty big accomplishment if you ask me. Because of that, I’m hoping my forever home has a dog buddy who can show me the ropes and join me in all my very important playtime activities. I’ve even been to the dog park once and did great meeting new dogs! I thought the whole thing was a fantastic idea and would happily support more outings like that.

I’m still a puppy, which means I’m currently studying important life subjects like:
• Pottying outside (progress is happening!)
• Which things are toys...and which things humans say “Maddie, noooo!” about
• Digging very serious research holes in the yard
• Checking everyone else’s food bowls, just in case they accidentally got something better than me

A few other things you should know: I’ve mastered alerting my humans about suspicious activity like people and dogs walking past the house, I enjoy my puppy food very much, and like many Great Pyrenees ladies, I’m not exactly impressed by water. Dry paws are the goal. Basically, life with me will include laughter, toys scattered in impressive places, a little bit of puppy mischief, and a whole lot of personality. I’m cute, I’m hilarious, and I promise I’ll keep you on your toes. So if you’re ready for a fluffy little sidekick who’s still learning the rules of the world (and occasionally making up a few of her own) and a future gentle giant who already has plenty of personality....I think we should meet.

Maddie will need obedience training as she gets older and mature. There is a lot for a puppy to learn and like all small puppies, she will need someone who can be home with her a lot and provide her with love, patience and boundaries to help her become a loyal companion. She loves the companionship of other animals and requires another dog in the home to act as her mentor as she continues to understand the rules of her new world.

ADOPT HERE: Complete an Adoption Application for your Pyr-fect new family companion at https://gprs.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=6206.

PUPPIES ARE ONLY PLACED IN HOMES WITH YOUTHFUL, PLAYFUL RESIDENT DOGS WHO ARE AT LEAST 50 POUNDS.

Our requirements for puppy adoptions are simple and necessary.

  1. Our puppies are not livestock guardians, they are family pets that live inside of the family home.
  2. Puppies must be placed in homes with a youthful, adult resident dog of similar size. This gives the puppy a mentor and a solid foundation for becoming part of the family.
  3. Puppies are only adopted to homes with someone at home at least part of the day. If no one is home for 6-8 hours at a time, please do not apply.
  4. Preference is always given to those with Great Pyrenees experience.
  5. Applicants must have secure, visible fencing and a socialization plan in place.
  6. The fastest way to be considered for a puppy is to fill out an application. Adoption is not first come, first served. GPRS and its fosters work diligently to find the right fit for each and every unique dog and puppy.
  7. Applicant’s personal pets must be current on vaccines & heartworm/flea prevention and be altered.

Adoption fee: $450 (Adoption fee includes spay or neuter, distemper/parvo vaccines, flea preventative, deworming, and health certificate for travel). Adopters pay the cost of transport services outside of Texas area. Transport costs depend on location and company used. Northeast transport fee is $200. The Northwest and Midwest transport fees range from $225-$350. The Southeast transport fees range from $250-$350.

GPRS has proudly placed thousands of Great Pyrenees and GP mixes in the PNW for over a decade. Our volunteers have over 100 years combined experience fostering, screening, and placing this majestic breed into loving, forever homes. When adopting from us, you can rest assured that we provide life-long support and advice when it comes to your new family member. As always, our purpose is to find the best match for every unique dog that comes through our doors. Taking the time to find the right fit comes first and foremost at the Great Pyrenees Rescue Society. If you are interested in adopting, please take the time, and apply. You will see firsthand how much care, attention and love goes into the process, when you are guided a personal screener. This is why we have people come back again and again for their next family member!
